I am the head of communications for AUAU Athletics®, a Finnish-based athletic wear company that has been providing first-class protective activewear for women and gender-diverse athletes since 2014. Our company consists of former and active roller derby athletes who founded it due to the lack of proper protective wear optimized for the female body. We realised that if we don't build it, no one will. Our company has a value-based design process led by our core values: inclusivity, sustainability and functional design.
We released the AAVA Armoured Sports Bra this past year and are currently working on our new Crash Pants. Both products are optimised for athletes in team, contact and combat sports.
I joined the company in 2018 and have been working on promoting our company and products.
WORK
LOOKING FOR:
I would like to connect with other people working in the area. While I believe products are highly relevant to the people within the network, I also believe that there is a huge gap in knowledge concerning injury prevention and available options.
I have been working tirelessly to educate our direct audience, and during this time, I have come to the conclusion that there is so much education to be done, which can only be done with a team effort. This is why I am also looking to connect, share information, experiences and knowledge, and maybe even collaborate on research.
